I just listed some of them. They may be of some interest to you,if you are planning a trip to Ocracoke.
When you are heading over to Ocracoke(on the Ferry) ,you may feel like me.It's a strange feeling to be riding over to a remote village, with your car on a boat, and a big one at that.
I remember the shops, the quietness, and no speeding cars.Every one was walking from shop to shop, and the people were so friendly.
And then we found a little place that sold ice cream.Sharing this with our friends and my family was a rewarding experience. These memories stay with you a life time.
Here is a little about Ocracoke. It is a part of Outer Banks. It is one of the most remote islands in the Outer Banks.(Cut off by a hurricane in 1846)It can only be reached by ferry, private boat, or small plane.
They have two small jets that seat six to eight people.(Be nice to fly our own small plane in,wouldn't it).The economy of Ocracoke is based almost all on tourism. They have quite a few weekly rentals, and hotels. They also have campgrounds to camp at.
They have several bars, dozens of restaurants, and many shops. There are no chains,or franchises, which give the island a distinctive character.HotelsCombined"above" does list one,and if it is not listed on the date you ask for, that means that it's all booked.
I hope that you will find a house or hotel to your liking. This island is such a beautiful place. So if you are looking for hotels , I am sure you will find one.
