If you know which Nags Head hotel you want to vacation at, and you have been before, then you can find the hotel in nothing flat.
We have been taking Outer Banks vacations for more years then I care to remember, and we have never stayed one time that we did not enjoyed. We have explored, from one end to the other.
If I may give a little advice
I just checked toward the middle of July, at one Nags Head hotel, for the first of August, and they were booked up.
Always book a month early in peak season.
And look at about three web sites on hotels to check prices.
But what I have learned is the price will run about the same. If you stay in peak season, there is hardly any difference in the prices. Why?
Because there is no need to lower your price, you have as many people as you can take care of.
What I mean by that is, if you go on three Nags Head hotel travel sites, and you pick a certain hotel, in peak season, there is not much difference in prices. I have even e-mailed, and called, and have got no results.
But in the months that they are slow, you can deal more with a hotel. If you book a Nags Head hotel rental during the off season, you can stay two days for about the same price as one in peak season.
Then again one's budget may not call for a four hundred dollar a night hotel in Outer Banks "Yes I found one for that price in peak season", so by going on two or three travel sites you can find the hotel for you, at the price you can afford.
And a Nags Head hotel
is by far the best deal on a rental in Outer Banks. If you want Oceanfront, you will have to pay a little more for the room, but they are worth it.
But if you shop, and look between sites, you can find exactly what you are looking for.
Another thing is, I never look for the bad in any place we stay, but if you go on some of these sites, and read the reviews, you will find about fifty-fifty, of some not liking where they stay, and others are satisified.
My theory is, you will not please some people.
For instance, we went on a trip with a few members of our family several years ago. After driving for five or six hours, we stopped at a hotel, checked in, and proceded to our rooms.
Now after driving that long I was tired.
My wife and I proceeded to take a cat nap while watching TV (we had already put our luggege up, mind you).
A knock on our door awoke us to one of our family telling us that one of the rooms was dirty, and they were all going about three hundred yards to another hotel.
Changing rooms would of made it more simple.
After you have found your "Nags Head Hotel", you are in the middle of shopping, attractions, a half dozen fishing piers, and quite a few great restaurants.
"Some of the available attractions",Go to the Beach.
Swim, sunbath, walk, collect shells or just relax. The beach is the best thing about Nags Head, and the Outer Banks in general.
There are public access points with free parking spread throughout the town, so find a close one.
Pack some sunscreen, a blanket, and a bottle of water, and head on over.
You can walk to the beach from almost anywhere in Nags Head but if you are planning a longer stay or carrying a lot of items, then drive, and park close to the beach,it is a lot easier.
Visit Jockey's Ridge State Park,mile post 6.
Hang gliding lessons take place at the park during the day.Just before sunset is a popular time to climb the dunes.Atop the dunes is a good location for kite flying.
Play miniature golf.
Take a walk on the multi use path. There is a path that runs the length of the town along the Oceanside road(known locally as "the beach road").
This is a great place to walk or bike ride.If you walk the section from Jockeys Ridge south for about 1.5 miles you will pass the Nags Head Cottage Row district. This is a group of about 60 homes built between 1890 and 1930.
They were built as summer homes and remain unchanged.Collectively they are known as the "Unpainted Aristocracy"mile post 7.
The path runs the entire length of the town,(12 miles)and is well suited to walking, jogging or biking. No motorized vehicles are allowed on the path.
