NC Aquarium,Visit One Of The Three Near Your Vacation Plans.
We visit the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island every time we vacation to the Outer Banks, and always look forward to it.Don't wander off, because we will find you information on all three N C Aquarium's.First we will catch the one on Roanoke Island. They are located on the Airport Rd in Manteo.(1-866-332-3475).Toll free, and you can receive all of the info that you want.
(Before we get started, the admission on all three are,adults$8.00,seniors$7.00,children 6-17$6.00,and under 5 are free. And if I can give you one tip.If you go when it is raining,it will be crowded, the same thing if you go shopping, rainy days bring all of the people inside).
They have 68,000 square feet of facility. The Aquarium has something for everyone. One thing that may not catch my eye will fascinate another in my family. They have sharks, alligators, and river otters,as well as programing, that includes dive shows, live animal encounters, and feeding programs. This N C Aquarium has several special activities to choose from, and unforgettable events.Just grab one of the Outer Banks rentals like we do and visit the Aquarium. You will enjoy it.The major attraction is the Graveyard of the Atlantic tank. The size is unreal,285,000 gallons of salt water. The tanks highlight is the 53 foot long replica of the USS Monitor,a civil war Ironclad. In the tank are around 1,000 sea creatures. After seeing the sharks,I asked the lady at the front desk when we went out one time,if any of the smaller fish ever disappered. You know what her answer was?"Guess"
Wetlands On The Edge is another favorite exhibit, with river otters, several american alligators, and also sea turtles.
The Coastal Freshwaters exhibit explores freshwater marine animals.
And the Croatan Sound Tank has the fish that local anglers"like myself"catch.
Marine Communities features nine tanks representing environments from grass flats,to the Gulf Stream. They display blue crabs, summer flounder, puppy drum, lobster, and many more.
Close Encounters(we like this one) is the touch tank, you can touch horseshoe crab and more little creatures. And of course they offer much more. You won't be dissappointed with this NC Aquarium. And at the end of the tour is the gift shop. The little ones will love this. Also,I love to read about all of the Hurricanes and North Easters that have come through there.
Here are the directions to the next NC Aquarium.Five miles west of Atlantic Beach. From NC 58, turn onto Pine Knoll Boulevard at the stoplight, Milepost 7; turn left onto Roosevelt Drive. Signs along US 70 and NC 58 point the way,to arrive at Pine Knoll Shores.

The Aquarium offers its usual schedule of diving presentations, animal feedings, live animal programs and other activities throughout the day when Family Nights are scheduled. One of the most interesting exhibits of this NC Aquarium,is a 12,000 saltwater tank with a shipwreck, and the fish that live under it.
To sum this Aquarium up,what with the hands on touch tank for kids, and the indoor, and outdoor exhibits, plus a nature trail, kids programs, and environmental education programs, this NC Aquarium is another great one to go to.
