If you know the exact week or weekend that you are planning a visit,your best bet is to book a room a month early.If you are planning a vacation on the fourth of July,I would book a couple of months before.Every place we go,we make reservations several months ahead.Better to have a place to stay than to hear that,I'm sorry,we are all booked up. Also many Hotels honor AARP and other discounts,and often allow children to stay free with paying adults.You know every dollar saved will buy you a burger,$1.00 at McDonalds value menu(my wife calls me cheap,maybe so). If you are looking to vacation at one of the Outer Banks hotels,I think they have great accommodations. After all ,you have a swimming pool, some are B&B,others are pet friendly,and at the Outer Banks, you sure will have some good neighbors.Maybe we have just been lucky,but we have always meet the nicest people. And the best part is,you don't have to clean your room,like you will in a rental house.That works for me.I just hate to see my wife clean house.That's why I step in and help her. Memorial day through Labor day is the peak season for Outer Banks vacations.But fall and spring are becoming increasingly popular times of the year to visit to.Of course rates are lower in the spring and fall. Many Outer Banks hotels,especially the older beach front structures and newer high rise units,have large areas to accommodate family reunions and tour groups.That's a plus if you need this. Most newer accommodations are wheelchair accessible.But some of the older ones are partially accessible or not at all.When making your reservations(make a list)check that your particular needs can be met.
