Spend Your Outer Banks Vacation Swiming,Sunbathing,Shopping Or Just Catching Up On Some Much Needed Rest.

Outer Banks Vacation Seashell Outer Banks Vacation Shopping For Jewelry

Above are two great things to do on a Outer Banks vacation.Just a walk on the beach looking for sea shells,or doing some shopping, are a great way to spend your Outer Banks vacation.

Out of the other beaches within a couple hundred miles from Outer Banks, that we have visited, the Outer Banks is one of the quietest, and most peaceful there is.

I remember my mother-in-law telling of vacationing in one of the other beaches one time, and she didn't like it because they were to noisy. She would have liked the Outer Banks.

This is a great beach. One you can take your family to and feel safe"I Do".One to kick back and have a great vacation at.

Outer Banks vacation Attractions Outer Banks Vacation Wright Brothers Memoral
Above are two more things for you, when you take a Outer Banks vacation. The first is a ship wreck, the Pocahontas, and the Wright Brothers Memorial. That is but two of the many attractions, the Outer Banks offers.

When you visit, drive south along the Outer Banks from Nags Head, heading down Hatteras Island, and cross to Ocracoke on the ferry. You may feel as if you're driving backward in history, toward a more isolated, more natural time. The beauty of it is priceless.

Your drive will start where the seasonal shopping centers, and rows of beachfront houses in the Nags Head area crowd the ocean.Below are two beautiful Outer Banks beach pictures.

Farther south, the highway enters the National Seashore, with its miles of wild, windy dunes, and empty sand, where breakers roll in. Mostly unnoticed day or night,by anyone.

I like to drive a little slower when we head that way, just to enjoy the beauty.Sometimes when we drive to fast,we miss something that will stand out in our minds, for the rest of our life.

Depending where you would like to take your vacation,Ocracoke would make a great place. The quite town sits amoung the trees in the wider part of the island, while the beachfront along the highway remains pretty much wild. You know, history set these patterns.

Did you know that at one time the Outer Banks was to remote and sandy for most people?I'll bet there weren't to many that took an Outer Banks vacation back then. You wouldn't know that today with more than a million visitors every year.

You can find Outer Banks vacation rentals,"BUT"don't wait to the last minute to find one.You can,but you will have to look harder, and longer, and may not find the spot that you wanted to stay. Some reserve from one vacation to the next.

I went in to Vragent, which has 3,400 houses scattered up and down the Outer Banks in May,and many houses were booked through August.

Outer Banks Condo Outer Banks vacation house in ocracoke
Above is a condo in Kill Devil Hills, and the other is a small rental in Ocracoke.

I would recommend at least a week if you have this much time to spend. You'll want at least that much time to enjoy the national seashore, the beach and other outdoor activites. Then there is the historic sites, and time to go to Ocracoke Island to catch the slow rhythem of life there, and enjoy a nice cold ice cream cone.

On your vacation, you will need to plan a month ahead to stay in a hotel,(best deal)during the week, but on the weekend, several months ahead.

If you are planning to rent a cottage,or a sand castle"big house",book in February,or March for the summer. One other thing to remember on a Outer Banks vacation is to pack gear.Prepare for wind, sun, and bugs. They sure have all three of them. One time I stepped off of the sand in to some bushes, and was about eaten alive with bugs.

Let,s back up to our starting point,Nags Head.It has been one of north Carolinas most popular beach resorts for more than a century. It's the center of attraction, because it is full of shops and great places to eat.

The town itself is a collection of beach houses and hotels, and motels, but they have one of the finest beaches in the state. Also at places they have ferocious tides, strong currents, and fickle, constantly changing winds, that alter the beach scene, from day to day.

On the Outer Banks,at certain points, ocean swimming can be hazardous. If you have children, stick to the beaches that have life guards, never take chances. Some that have life guards are Kitty Hawk,Kill Devil Hills, and Nags Head, all close together.

There is more to see and do on a Outer Banks vacation, than we could do in our lifetime.I hope that you have found what you need.If not, there are more pages on(guess what)you are right, Outer Banks. Thanks for reading and good luck on your Outer Banks vacation.
