Outerbanks,Do You Love The Outer Banks Like We Do?The Outerbanks is a series of islands from north to south,Bodie,Roanoke,Hatteras,and Ocracoke Island.If you are looking for a home rental or a hotel 
to spend your vacation at,you know they are not hard to find.We have been going to the Outerbanks for over twenty years.It's a great place to vacation, as you know if you have been going there. If this is your first trip then you are going to love it.One little tip,book your house rental early,I waited until July one year,you know what happened don,t you? Up above you will see the house that Richard Gere and Diane Lane stared in "Nights In Rodanthe".It is located in Rodanthe,on the Outer Banks. OBX is a 200 mile long string of narrow barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina.We have probably traveled back and forth a hundred miles or so.From Corolla to Ocracoke.It is just so many sites to see and places to go that you run out of time.To much and to little time,don,t you think? They are a major tourist destination,and are known for their temperate climate,and wide expanse of open beachfront.You may have a R V and want to stay at a campground.Cape Hatteras National Seashore has four. A very few of the sites to see are the Wright Brothers first flight.It took place in 1903.(Bet it was a lot different then don,t you?)Another is the Roanoke Colony,where the first person of English decent Virgina Dare,was born.They vanished from Roanoke Island in 1587.That is a history lesson if you have little ones. If you look in Hatteras Island,another page on this site you will find what happen to them.(I always thought that they were killed).Maybe I could take a history lesson! As I said before Outerbanks is a series of islands.Corolla and Ocracoke are home to herds of feral horses.How did they get there?They rode a boat over.Sounds like a joke,but they did. They are the kin(I like that) of Spanish Mustangs and washed ashore centuries ago in shipwrecks.Not only do they have breath taking scenery here but they are also full of history.I have mentioned several places,but they are different towns on the Outerbanks.They all have their own history,and many attractions.No matter where you vacation at,there is plenty to do. These are two of the wild Ponies below on Ocracoke.
