Why is Rodanthe north carolina a sought after spot?

View Of Buxton

Rodanthe North Carolina is an unincorporated community located in Dare county, and is a part of the Outer Banks. If you have ever rode the ferry over to Ocracoke, you passed through it. To the right is Buxton, their next door neighbor.

Highway 12 runs through the town. With the ocean on one side, and the sound on the other, even I couldn't get lost. Did you know the movie "Nights In Rodanthe" was partially filmed there? It came out about six months ago.

We stopped, and did some sight seeing a couple of years ago, when we went to Ocracoke. Took a walk on the pier,(I think). That was the day my wife didn't feed me, that's what I will chalk it up to. It's a medical name for that condition, but I forget what is is. (HA).

Located on Hatteras Island,Rodanthe North Carolina,is setting beside Waves, and Salvo, and they are part of the settlement called Chicamacomico(just call it Chic). It is easier to say.

They also have the original life-saving station, decommissioned in 1954,and is now a museum.Visit if you pass through,or stay.

The reason I couldn't find any hotels is, there are none. But there are a few that are only minutes away. There are three Inns, or Bed and Breakfast on Hatteras Island, where Rodanthe is located.

Just in case you are going to stay in Rodanthe North Carolina and take in the sights, there are numerous rental houses

Serendipity House to choose from. And there are a few condos as well. Above is Serendipity, the house that, "Nights in Rodanthe" was filmed at. I couldn't find that one on the link I gave you. That one is probably booked up a year or so in advance.

And to, if you have a R V, they have quite a few campgrounds. They range from deluxe, to rustic, and include Camp Hatteras, Ocean Waves, Cape Hatteras KOA, and several small campgrounds catering to water sports enthusiasts.

Of course water sports include fishing, kayaking, swimming, sailboarding, and kiteboarding, and others as well.

Since you are on both sides of water,

Many of the shops and markets in Rodanthe are seasonal.

In 2002 Nicholas Sparks published the book, that was later adapted into a movie. It was partially filmed in the town of Rodanthe, and entirely in Eastern North Carolina. They used the house "Serendipity" in the film. I Bet those owners were proud.

Let me give you a little history on Rodanthe North Carolina. In 1861, the confederates came to Rodanthe in hopes of capturing Fort Hatteras and Fort Clark. They had a earlier naval assault, and had pushed the Union Troups all the way up to the part of the island that is now Buxton.

Full of history isn't it? Quite a bit of difference today, then it was one hundred, and fifty years ago. Rodanthe is like the rest of the Outer Banks. There is always something for everyone.Below is the Hatteras Lighthouse, just a few minutes away from Rodanthe.

If you take a Outer Banks vacation,be careful, and have fun.
