Surf Fishing Outer Banks,A Great Way to Enjoy Your Vacation.

Surf Fishing On The Outer Banks

This man above is surf fishing Outer Banks. For a fisherman,a trip to the Outer Banks is one of excitement. We used to drive seven hours, check in,and I would be surf fishing in two hours upon arrival.

At one time all of my trips to the Outer Banks revolved around fishing.

Surf fishing Outer Banks includes the Atlantic ocean, and the sounds as well.Located to the west of the banks,Pamlico Sound is the largest inland body of water on the east coast, and one of the richest saltwater fishing grounds anywhere.

North of Roanoke Island,Currituck Sound also supports freshwater species such as bass.

If you go surf fishing Outer Banks, you may catch ocean grey trout,as well as spot, crockers, snapper, blue fish, flounder, channel bass, largemouth bass, cobia, bonito, sea mullet, tuna and amberjack,as well as red and black drum, and maybe a mess of spanish mackeral like these below.

Spanish Mackeral Caught In Outer Banks Just thinking about what kind of big fish you may catch is exciting, isn,t it?I have never had it to happen to me,but I have talked to many that tell of hanging a fish and never even turning it.Taking the line off and then breaking it.

Begining in March and continuing through the summer, bass, flounder, sea mullet, spot, bluefish, trout and croakers are a typical catch from the pier and surf fishing.

If you go surf fishing Outer Banks, remember the Pamlico Sound, and Currituck Sound.Flounder and speckled trout are plentiful, and trout can be caught around structures.Cobia are good spring catches in the sound to.

In April, people start to fish for largemouth bass in the Currituck sound.

During the summer, spanish mackerel can also be fished from shore. If you want to fish for the spanish mackerel, they usualy arrive on the Outer Banks the first or second week in May,depending on the water temperature.

Casting is the most sporting way of catching them.Use 8 or 10 lb test line.I use a Gotcha or double bucktails. If there is a school come in,you can catch two at a time, sometimes. These lures will catch an assortment of fish. They are irrestable to fish.

If you are after flounder, they are abundtant in both Hatteras and Oregon Inlets,in clear water.Use bottom rigs on them with minnows or cut bait.

Since the sound fishing season fluctuates, call a tackle shop for an update on the fishing report. They will know what and where the fish are.We always buy our bait and supplies at T W Bait Shop. They are located around milepost 9 at Kill Devil Hills.

Outer Banks Pelican With A Fish 'A Pelican surf fishing Outer Banks.' You know, there are so many great places to fish in Outer Banks, you would have to retire and fish full time to cover them.

My good friend Steve(loved to fish)informed me of one time while they were surf fishing,a school of blues came in.He said that they were running up the beach, pulling out big blues, and pitching them on the beach. When the blues went offshore, they went back to gather up their catch, and the birds had gotten some of them. That was a good day,for them and the birds.

Before you go,make sure you have all of your fishing supplies that you need.We go to the Ben Franklin, and T W Bait Shop for ours,as well as finding what we need online. The only drawback to the stores at Outer Banks,is that takes time away from your fishing.I will give you a site where you can buy anything you may need for surf fishing Outer Banks.

Steve also said that a shipwreck at Pea Island was a good spot.It is just a few miles past Oregon Inlet.Just look for the signs, and pull in the lot.It is maybe 200 yards to the ocean. We fished there, but I did not know exactly where to throw my line at.

I was reading a book the other day,and I came across an article about the same thing he told me.Here is what it said. The boiler wreck,as Steve told me,is visible. It has been there so long that it has developed into a permanent sand point with a deep slough running north toward Oregon Inlet. This is one of the premiere fishing spots along the outer Banks.

When the big blues invade this slough, you will see cars lining the road.Steve said, that when the tide went out,it traps the fish. The Boiler stack is not to far out in the water, and at low tide you could get your bait,or lure to it.

Thinking about surf fishing Outer Banks gets the adrenalin going does,t it?I have a page on charter fishing that you may be interested in reading. When you close that page you will be back on this page.no mater where you fish, find a fishing report. They may be more, and bigger fish biting at another location.

There is a great link below that will give you fishing tips, and just some great advice about fishing all over the country.Whenever you are fishing at different states(and you will)here is some good information for you.
